Feng Shui (pronounced fung shway) is the ancient Oriental art of
placing objects in the home to enhance health, harmony and abundance.
Items that simulate nature, natural items, various colors and interior
design principles, along with our own intuitive sense, are all utilized
to enhance the flow of energy throughout our home.
Literally
translated, Feng Shui means Wind/Water. Both wind and water denote
a sense of flowing in a gentle, meandering manner. By placing objects
such as mirrors (which simulate water), plants (either real or silk),
wind chimes, or changing the decor in various areas of your home,
you encourage energy to flow through each room, touching and energizing
every area of your physical space as well as every area of your
life.
The basic
tenet of Feng Shui is that our home is a reflection of our life
and our life is a reflection of our home. In determining which part
of your home may influence a particular area of your life, draw
a floor plan of your home and divide it into nine parts. Then, by
over-laying the Feng Shui map, you can find the areas that relate
to prosperity, reputation, relationships, children and creativity,
friends, career or life path, knowledge, family and health.
To enhance,
improve or create change in a life area, you can apply a Feng Shui
"cure" to move the energy in the corresponding area of your home.
Let me tell you, it works!!! A little change of an item here or
there really does make a difference! We all move things around intuitively,
perhaps saying that it "feels" better in this location. We are truly
shifting energy whether we are aware of it or not. Feng Shui is
a great tool to consciously effect change!
And the very
first thing we do is: CLEAR THE CLUTTER!!! Clutter creates "stuck"
energy! Begin by cleaning up a pile, a drawer, a closet! It just
might make a difference!
